Apply Magic (“Apply Magic,” “we,” “us”) operates applymagic.ai. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. What we collect
On this website
- Waitlist information. If you request access, we collect the email address you give us, the time you submitted it, and any optional note you include.
- Technical data. Standard server logs may include IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, and pages viewed. We use this to keep the site up and to understand coarse traffic, not to build a dossier on you.
- Cookies and similar tools. We may use essential cookies to run the site. If we add analytics later, we will say so here and, where the law requires it, ask first.
When the product is live
If you create an account, we will also collect:
- Account data — name, email, password or sign-in token, plan, and settings.
- Profile and career materials — resumes, work history, writing samples, portfolios, job listings you paste or link, answers you edit, and cover letters you generate or save.
- Usage data — features you use, applications you start, and basic diagnostics so we can fix things that break.
- Payment data — if we charge for the product, payments are handled by a processor (for example Stripe). We receive confirmation and limited billing metadata, not your full card number.
2. How we use it
- To run the waitlist and tell you when a seat is open.
- To create, tailor, and store application materials at your direction.
- To improve the product — including evaluating whether an output sounds like you, not like a model.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
- To send transactional mail (account, security, product changes). Marketing mail only if you ask for it, and you can stop it any time.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your resume or writing samples to train public foundation models. If that ever changes, it will be opt-in, written in plain language, and reflected here first.
3. AI processing
Apply Magic uses third-party model providers to generate drafts. When you ask us to write, relevant pieces of your profile and the job you pointed at are sent to those providers so they can return a draft.
- We send the minimum needed for the task.
- Providers are bound by their terms and, where we can contract for it, by a requirement not to train on your content.
- Outputs can be wrong. You are responsible for reviewing anything before you send it to an employer.
4. Who we share it with
We share information only as needed to operate:
- Infrastructure — hosting, storage, email delivery, error tracking.
- Model providers — as described above.
- Payment processors — if you pay us.
- Professional advisors and legal process — if we are required to, or to protect people from real harm.
- A buyer — if Apply Magic is sold or merged, your data may transfer with the business under this policy or a successor that is no less protective.
We do not share your materials with employers unless you tell us to send an application.
5. How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails: until we launch and you either join or ask us to delete, or 24 months after your last contact, whichever comes first.
- Account and profile data: for as long as the account is open, then a short period needed for backups and legal hold.
- You can ask us to delete your account and materials. Some records (billing, abuse logs) may remain where the law requires it.
6. Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can also withdraw consent where we relied on it.
Email hello@applymagic.ai with the subject “Privacy request.” We will need enough information to find you and to confirm it is you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal bases are typically: contract (to provide the service you asked for), legitimate interests (to secure and improve the site), and consent (waitlist mail and any non-essential cookies).
If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those words are used in the CCPA/CPRA. You may request access, deletion, and correction as above.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures — encryption in transit, access limits, vendor review. No system is sealed. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and regulators as the law requires.
8. Children
Apply Magic is for people looking for professional work. It is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you think we have, write us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
We are based in the United States. If you use the site from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our vendors operate. Those places may not have the same rules as your own.
10. Changes
We will post updates on this page and change the “last updated” date. If a change is material, we will also email the address on your account or waitlist when we have it.
